Home Sweet Home!?

A lot can change in 8 years.

A lot can change in 8 years.

On a beautiful June day in 2002, we said goodbye to our families as we boarded a flight for Frankfurt, Germany. We were all a bit apprehensive as to what we would find when we got there but equally excited to see what the future would hold.

Thanks to some wonderful sponsors and amazing friends, we certainly made the most of everything that Germany and Europe had to offer. After 8 wonderful years we would love to say that we have seen it all but there is so much that we think we missed.  After travelling to so many countries from Egypt to Ireland; Spain to Poland…and experiencing an equal number of interesting cultures, we will always look back on our time in Germany - a wonderful place that we will always consider home.
Flash forward to a sweltering day in July, 2010 when we again assembled at an airport, and said, “Auf wiedersehen” to Deustchland - our home for 8 years!

A Global Change to Our Energy?

Unlike traditional renewable energy technologies, like solar and wind, which are intermittent, Bloom’s technology can provide renewable power 24/7.

Each Bloom Energy Server provides 100 kilowatts (kW) of power in roughly the footprint of a parking space. Each system generates enough power to meet the needs of approximately 100 average U.S. homes or a small office building. For more power, customers simply deploy multiple Energy Servers side by side. The modular architecture allows customers to start small and “pay as they grow”.006_bloom_energy

Cimoli family pre-Thanksgiving dinner

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. May we all be thankful for the blessings we have been given - especially those that we have yet to realize.

Remember all those in the military who are not home because they are out in various parts of the world defending our freedom.  May their sacrafices and those of their family be recognized by all.

We sincerely wish to thank our family and friends who share in our lives, we are truly blessed to have you as a part of it.

Honoring Our Veterans

November 8th, 2009

veterans-dayOn November 11, 1918, fighting ceased in Europe when an armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Although recognized as Armistice Day in Europe, November 11th soon became a day to honor the sacrafice and courage of all American veterans of war.

“To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it  given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…” ~President Wilson

Are Our Pets too Much Like Family?

img_9418Here is Tia all tucked in to Anabelle’s bed for the night. Since when did our pets become so much like a human that we have a special bed for them, buy organic food, put them on kittie-prozack when they are crazy, buy them gifts for the holidays and so on? I like my cat (most of the time) but not so sure I would be crushed if she met with an untimely demise and was no longer here with us ;-) Well, enough of that, I have to go clear off my bed so my cat can go to sleep.

World Wide Phone Service

If you want your own US or Global phone number that can forward all your calls to any phone number in the world at very low rates, then this service is for you!

If you want your own US or Global phone number that can forward all your calls to any phone number in the world at very low rates, then this service is for you!

With all our travelling, it is sometimes difficult (and expensive) for family to track us down and get us on the phone. As a solution, we now have a number that is a local Michigan number but rings to our home here in Germany. It is very easy to use and I can change the number where it rings to at a moments notice through a website.

CallMyGlobal costs $4.95 a month regardless of whether I use it or not. On top of that, there is a 5 cents per minute charge. I end up spending around $20 a month but that is all based on useage.

There is no hardwear required and it doesn’t require the internet or a computer…just a phone number to forward to.

*Charges vary depending on the phone number you want and the location you are forwarding the calls to. You can also get a toll-free number if that suits your needs better.
