2. So what the hell is a "Blog?"

A few weeks ago I was introduced to the word "Blog." At the time I had no idea what it meant and I still have no full understanding but I have deduced that it is a combination of the words: WEB LOG --cut out the W & E and you get BLOG. At least that is what I think.

I guess its a more glamorous name for a Diary or a Journal but either way the bottom line is this: its a personal log that allows others to read and then provide input on what they have read. Pretty interesting concept.

So, this is my attempt at a Blog.

Here's the basis: I deployed to Kuwait in February 2003 for what became Operation Iraqi Freedom. While gone I kept a journal of most days events and was eventually going to post them to the net. Now here it is...

It is being posted 19 months after the fact so I don't think I will disclose any close held secrets. I will post it day by day as I wrote it. I will try to post with the same interval I wrote...We will see how it works.

Be forewarned: Most of what you will read is boring and insignificant like a "Seinfeld" episode.

As a former two year enlistee, having been in Iraq the first time around, it completely tripped me out thinking about guys like you who had been there with me and now were going back a dozen years later. As you probably remember, the consensus among the common soldier was that if we went into Baghdad it was not going to be any joke or cakewalk--and I guess it sure as hell was not. I very much look forward to reading your posts. Glad you made it back in one piece.

I remember all that very clearly--"The only way home is through Baghdad" used to be our unofficial motto and driving force.

I was in the 82nd Airborne then...in 1990-1991. I spent 8 months there that time.

My experiences are not as exciting as the stuff I have read from you so far 91Ghost.

I am a Blackhawk pilot and my experiences are far different than those of CBFTW's and his fellow "ground pounders."

Thanks for stopping by.
